MSI is major contributor behind Discovery Channel’s eSports: The Rise of the New King

Discovery Channel has just launched the eSports: The Rise of the New King documentary. It is expected to air in different countries over the next few days.

This documentary is nearly an hour long and talks about how gaming, eSports in particular, has quickly become a modern day entertainment sports. And Taiwanese PC manufacturer MSI is Discovery Channel’s key partner in the creation of eSports: The Rise of the New King.

Discovery’s VP and GM for Greater China and Korea Tony Qiu had this to say:

“With eSports surging in popularity, we have seen its potential and launched Discovery Games Studios to create games inspired by various TV shows from Discovery’s properties. We also recognized MSI’s vast potential in the meanwhile. With MSI gaming laptops’ high prevalence worldwide, there is no doubt MSI is one of the major forces behind the success of eSports.”

MSI has indeed been very pivotal in the development of eSports in many areas, such as sponsoring events or teams, as well as providing the PC hardware for events. To date, MSI is known to have sponsored multiple eSports teams like Fnatic, FlashWolves, Cloud9, and more. Besides that, MSI also has its own eSports tournament called the MGA (MSI Gaming Arena), which is held quite regularly.
