Rumors have been floating around the internet about Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) possibly going bankrupt. This news is worrying, as NIS is one of the most prominent games publishers in the industry. NIS is most famous for its Disgaea RPG series.
According to NintendoSoup, a report for NIS shareholders seems to indicate that things are afoot. Specifically, executives are supposedly getting a five times increase in their maximum compensation. This is not long after the company experienced a drop in stock prices, which some say are due to the poor showing of the Disgaea mobile game.
Of course, this does not prove that the company is going bankrupt. But many believe that the executives are attempting to get a final big payout, before closing shop for good.
Is Nippon Ichi Software actually going bankrupt, or does the company have some other plan in mind? What do you think? If you have any thoughts on the topic, do let us know in the comments below.
