Fate/Grand Order sales ranking in Japan’s Apple App Store fell out of the top-50 spot recently. This is the first time it has happened since the game launched in August 2015.
Fate/Grand Order debuted at #47 on the sales ranking on its launched month and has remained within the top 50 ever since. It’s even one of the games that regularly hit the top 5. However, as you can see from the image above, AppAnnie recorded a dip to #59 on 1 June 2019.
Doomsayers are probably going to say that the game is dead or dying, but do keep in mind that this drop was temporary. In fact, the game’s sales ranking climbed back up to #36 the next day. Also, do note that the numbers here only take iOS users in Japan into account. While it is true that the majority of Japanese mobile game players favor Apple’s smartphones and tablets, Android users who play the game are also contributors to the game’s sales revenue. You can’t proclaim the game dead when it managed #1 as recently as 25 May 2019.
The drop can be attributed to the lack of content in the game at the moment, as it heavily relies on new story chapters or events to promote shiny new gacha characters.
Fate/Grand Order was launch in Southeast Asia early last year, but the game is also available in North America, South Korea, Taiwan, and China. If you want to play the game, you can download it here.
