Gearbox Software recently announced a few incoming mouth-watering releases including a fresh new title in Borderlands 3 at PAX East 2019. Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, now available for the first time on current generation consoles, is the latest version of the award-winning 2009 first-person shooter and role-playing game, with plenty of additional content and enhancements for players to enjoy. Also, note that all players are now able to import their existing Borderlands Vault Hunters into Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition but only within the same console family.
What’s new
- Visual upgrades: Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, players can enjoy 4K Ultra HD and HDR, though the improved lighting, textures, and character models shine on every platform.
- Quality of life improvements: Significant updates to the game’s supporting systems allow for a smoother overall experience.
- More rewards: You can now use Golden Keys to unlock special in-game items and rewards.
- Added firepower: Beat bosses or gather Golden Keys for a chance to obtain a new set of six named, custom-skinned Legendary weapons.
- Tougher boss battles: In direct response to fan feedback, the campaign’s final boss encounter has been adjusted to be more engaging, challenging and rewarding.

Features
- Bazillions of Guns: Rocket-launching shotguns, enemy-torching revolvers, SMGs that fire lightning rounds, and tons more procedurally generated firearms.
- RPG Progression: Slay your foes, gain experience points, and build out extensive skill trees unique to each of the four Vault Hunters.
- Co-op Frenzy: Tear through the opposition as a crew of up to four, with four-player split-screen available on consoles and online co-op available across all platforms.
- Rich Universe: Uncover the rewarding mysteries, memorable inhabitants, deep lore of Pandora and the Borderlands narrative universe.
- Intense Vehicular Combat: Get behind the wheel and engage in frenetic vehicle-to-vehicle combat.
- Radical Art Style: Traditional rendering techniques combined with hand-drawn textures give Borderlands its iconic style.
Other included content include the base game and DLCs such as The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution. As for the Ultra HD Texture Pack, it basically improves the overall quality of the games’ visuals and provides players with a 4k Ultra HD resolution. The packs are free and available for both existing and new players as optional downloadable content on their respective platforms.
Furthermore, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 are now free to play and currently available on a cheap for a limited-time period on Steam. This is your chance if you haven’t played any Borderlands games before.
