PUBG Corp. and NetEase finally settle dragged-out feud

The developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, PUBG Corp. and NetEase have finally settled the PUBG copyright lawsuits that occured way back in April last year. The heated feud started when PUBG Corp. accused NetEase of copying PUBG’s ideas and implementing them in their own battle royale games – Knives Out and Rules of Survival.

To sum it up, both of NetEase battle royale games do look very similar to PUBG in terms of almost everything when it comes to gameplay. No wonder PUBG Corp would go all infuriated about it but NetEase denied that they have committed any copyright infringements. NetEase even further commented that PUBG Corp was trying to monopolize the entire battle royale genre by keeping the competition only within themselves.

In fact, NetEase did exactly the same themselves by taking action against clones of their battle royale mobile games shortly after PUBG Corp.’s appeal but there was no mention of PUBG at all.

According to McArthur Law Firm who’s specialized in video games laws, both parties have officially come to terms with each other and are currently in the process of ending the lawsuit once and for all. However, some details remain confidential and the futures of Knives Out and Rules of Survival are still somewhat unclear.
