Hearthstone Championship Tour 2019 World Championship details announced

The Hearthstone Championship Tour 2019 World Championship, also known as the HCT 2019 World Championship in short, will take place soon. Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced that the HCT 2019 World Championship will take place from 25th to 28th April in Taipei.

16 pro players from around the world will compete for the grand title and also for the $1,000,000 prize pool. They will be separated into four groups of four that will compete in a dual-tournament format until only eight remain. The competition will then shift to a single-elimination bracket.

There are plenty of reasons to watch the HCT 2019 World Championship live this year. First of all, it is the last ever event for the Hearthstone Championship Tour. It marks the beginning of a new era for the competitive scene. Furthermore, the HCT 2019 World Championship will be the first ever major event in a post-rotation world. In other words, we will get to see new strategies since Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin’s victory in January 2018.

The World Championship takes place in Chen’s home country, Taiwan, where he will not be participating this time around. Held at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, it will start at 9am Taipei time, with the live broadcast starting an hour later.

Here is the daily schedule:

• April 25 – Group Stage: Groups A & B – Group and Winner Matches
• April 26 – Group Stage: Groups C & D – Group and Winner Matches
• April 27 – Elimination and Decider Matches
• April 28 – Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Finals

Tickets are also on sale now. Those who purchase tickets will receive the Thrill of Victory card back. To redeem it, you just have to log into your registered Blizzard Battle.net account once the World Championship concludes. Also, ticket purchasers will be able to play in the very first Hearthstone Masters Qualifier tournament for the Hearthstone Masters Tour Asia-Pacific that will take place later this year.
