Recently, there’s a post circulating on Facebook and it really caught our attention. The post is about a Malaysian son hoping that Nintendo would release “Doraemon: Nobita’s Story of Seasons” earlier. Before I continue, you might want to sit tight because we are going on a feels trip. The game requested to be released early is not meant for the son but for his bedridden mother.

According to the post above, his mother is a fan of “Story of Seasons” and as a full-time mother, she would still find time to play the game while raising both of her child. Even when she had finish the game, she would replay it over and over again on the Play Station 1 until the console broke down. Since then, his mother have not laid a finger on “Story of Seasons”.
Unfortunately, his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma in 2015 and told that she would only have 3 months left to live. Still, his mother did not give up on life and fought against cancer up till today. However, bad news struck them earlier this year. They were told by the doctor that cancer cells had spread across his mother’s body and she could be gone at any moment.
Fast forward a few days, his mother received exciting news that a new “Story of Seasons” will be coming out and it also features Doraemon. His mother was really looking forward to the game.
Here is a short conversation between the Original Poster and his Mother:
Mother: I heard that a new “Story of Seasons” is coming out? with Doraemon in it as well?
Son: Ya, it was announced yesterday.
Mother: I went to a few shops and asked for the game, but they told me it would be out next year, is that true?
Son: Maybe they are talking about 2019, it might come out at the end of the year.
Mother: I might not be around anymore by the time, I’m not sure if I can get to play it.
Son: That won’t happen, you’ll be able to play it.
Upon finishing his sentence, his eyes turned watery and he left immediately to prevent his mother from seeing him cry.
With all that said, the son came across a similar case that happened to a cancer patient. We’re not sure which he is addressing to but we knew of a guy who got his wish fulfilled. He was able to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate before the game release. Taking that in mind, the son is now hoping that BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment (BNE) will help fulfill his mother’s wish. BNE had even replied to the post saying:
We can only hope that BNE will send a copy of the game before the game release. But we have to take into account that “Doraemon: Nobita’s Story of Seasons” is a game that has both Doraemon IP and “Story of Seasons” IP. With BNE acknowledging the situation, we are assuming that BNE might probably be discussing on handling the matter to move things forward. With so many parties involved, there will be a lot of levels of approval and procedures to go through.
For now, we can only hope that they will come up with a solution. To our fellow Malaysian, Loh, we hope everything goes smoothly to your family and that your mother will be able to play the game.
