Scalebound was in development by PlatinumGames and was bound for an XBox One release in 2017. It was then unfortunately cancelled by Microsoft Studios because of “business decisions”. Now, there are rumours that the game might be making a comeback to Nintendo Switch.
The dragon-themed RPG was not the first game that Microsoft Studios had decided to axe. The revival of Scalebound is bound to put smiles back on people’s faces after its disappointing cancellation in 2017. Furthermore, this is not the first time that Nintendo is helping to revive a dead PlatinumGames title either.
In Scalebound, you will play as Drew in the world of Draconis. Together with the dragon Thuban, both of them must defeat their enemies to bring peace to Draconis. We can definitely expect some good things out of this as Nintendo and PlatinumGames have always maintained a close relationship with each other as seen with Switch exclusive titles such Astral Chain which they are currently working on together.
With Bayonetta 3 incoming as well, it promises to be an exciting year ahead for Nintendo. Though, we will have to wait until either Nintendo or PlatinumGames to make an official announcement. For now, there is not much information and the release date is still unclear so stay tuned.
