SEGA has confirmed that Judgement will launch in the Americas and Europe in summer next year. Previously, the game went by the name of Project Judge (aka Judge Eyes: Shinigami no Yuigon in Japan).
Judgement takes place within the Yakuza universe. The story is set in Kamurocho and follows private detective Takayuki Yagami (played by Japanese actor Takuya Kimura). Judgement employs combat similar to Yakuza 0 where players can switch between fighting styles. In addition, the game will feature an investigative mode which focuses on players collecting clues for their case.
At the moment, SEGA has launched two demos for the game. They released the demo for Episode 1 of the game 2 weeks ago in for the Playstation Store in Japan. Furthermore, the save data can be carried over to the final game. Judgement will launch in Japan on this Thursday (13 December 2018).
On another note, Judgement will mark the first time in 12 years where a game from the Yakuza universe will feature an English dub for its Western release. The last game that did so was the original Yakuza for the Playstation 2 in 2006. In order to commemorate the moment, the development team put in more effort to retain the original Japanese script. The game will feature dual language and subtitle options for player preferences.
Judgement will also feature a voice cast filled with veterans of the scene. The voice cast includes the likes of Greg Chun (Nier: Automata), Joe Zieja (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) and Yuri Lowenthal (Persona 4).
