Blizzard has been trying to placate disappointed Diablo fans following the reveal of Diablo Immortal during BlizzCon 2018. However, disappointed can be considered an understatement as fans raged across the Internet. Now, in response to all the drama, they has stated that they will be announcing new Diablo projects in 2019.
Blizzard posted the statement on the Battle.net forums. In the statement, they have promised to announce new projects next year. Furthermore, they also addressed the continuous feedback from the fans which led them to this decision.
On the bright side, Blizzard has in a way confirmed the existence of multiple upcoming Diablo games. However, this will not be the first time they have mentioned that multiple games are coming. They have made similar statements over the past year. Unlike the previous times, the company added a time frame in the statement.
Following the nightmare in BlizzCon, Blizzard became cautious with anything related to their long-running franchise. The fans have been unrelenting with their condemnation across social media and forums. The statement clearly highlights that Blizzard is trying to win back the fans.
With the company revealing that they will announce new projects for the franchise, the question remains on the development of Diablo 4. The title became the focus of fans during BlizzCon and the announcement of a mobile game instead was the catalyst of the public backlash. As 2019 looms close, the fans will be expecting a reveal or announcement of the game during the year.
