Square Enix has announced an upcoming Tactical RPG game for 2019 titled “War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius”. The game will share the same universe as Square Enix’s popular mobile RPG, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
Square Enix released Final Fantasy Brave Exvius back in October 2015 in Japan before releasing it worldwide the following year. Since release, the game grew in popularity as updates continue to roll in, keeping the game fresh. Within a year of release, the game garnered around 5 million players. Not too long ago, the game completed a collaboration event with Nier: Automata. Currently the game is still growing strong after 3 years since release.
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will take place at the Continent of Ardra. The original Brave Exvius referenced the location but it was inaccessible and obscured by clouds. The game is clearly a reference to Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions from both the naming and genre. For those who do not know, The War of the Lions is a Tactical RPG released for the Playstation Portable in May 2007. It shared a universe as Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (sequel to Final Fantasy XII).
Platform
Although Square Enix revealed a release date (only the year), they have not announced which platforms the game will be available on. Considering that Brave Exvius was released for the smartphone, it should be safe to say that War of the Visions will follow the trend. However, we could still see a console release as Square Enix has not provided any details so far.
At the moment, a teaser website has opened featuring the trailer and the release date. Interested fans can visit the site here.
