How To: Unlock All Super Mario Run Characters

If you don’t know already, there are a total of 6 unlockable characters in Super Mario Run. Out of the 6 characters, Mario is one of them and obviously it is unlocked from the beginning. While the rest of them will require you to either earn them by playing in a particular mode or by building a specific building to acquire them. Why unlock them? Well you either are a fan of Super Mario and you just want to collect them to complete the game, or because each character has their own unique abilities! Yes they have enhanced movements and abilities that will help you reach hard-to-get places! So here is a list on how to unlock the other 5 characters!

Toad

Toad is really simple to be obtained. You just need to link to your My Nintendo Account to Super Mario Run. Then you will receive Toad as a free reward in My Nintendo Rewards or access it from the game. From the game, go to your Mushroom Kingdom screen and you will see Toad as your reward. Tap on the icon and scroll down to redeem it. Toad runs a little faster that the rest of the characters. Unlike Mario that can take a hit in his big form (after taking a mushroom), Toad and the rest of the characters can only take a hit.

Luigi

For Luigi, you’ll need to build his house in the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi’s house requires 150 Green Toads and 150 Purple Toads which can be earned from the Toad Rally. You will lose Toads if you lose in a match of Toad Rally but you will gain more than you lose so keep playing and you will gain enough. Luigi is one of the characters that can jump really high. He can jump higher than most of the characters and is comparable to Yoshi. He can definitely help you achieve greater heights.

Yoshi

Yoshi! Mario’s dinosaur companion who is a vegetarian! Okay, maybe not. But you can unlock Yoshi by earning 30 Red Toads and 30 Green Toads. Earn enough from the Toad Rally and you will get to play as Yoshi! Yoshi has a special ability that allows him to flutter in the air which will help you reach higher places for hidden coins and reach even farther to the front by tapping and holding on the screen.

Princess Peach

Princess Peach will need you to beat all 6 worlds and 24 stages and free her from Bowser (again) to obtain her as a playable character. Just like Yoshi except that she cannot jump as high as Yoshi, can do a floaty long jump which can help you reach farther to another platform. By tapping and holding on the screen, you will see her floating gracefully downward and farther.

Toadette

Now Toadette will be your end game character which will require some time for you to unlock. Oh no she’s not that difficult to be unlocked. You just have to win more Toad Rally games! Being the Toad Rally referee, she requires 200 Toads of each colour to build her house in the Mushroom Kingdom or she won’t be joining you anytime soon. So get on out there and work your thumbs to unlock all the characters of the game.

Hmm… I wonder if they would put in a playable Bowser just for fun. His abilities might be interesting though. Hopefully the game content wouldn’t be so limited. Since it is a paid app, I hope there will be future updates that would grant us more worlds and levels, with more playable characters from other Nintendo IPs, or even a new game mode.
