First announced in October 2018, A3: Still Alive is a mobile game based on the classic PK MMORPG, A3. Netmarble recently reveals that the mobile game will feature 30-player battle-royale mode, and we are lucky to be able to try it out in G-Star 2018. So, check out our hands-on impression below if you want to know more about the new mode!
Check out our gameplay of its demo:
The battle-royale mode features a total of 30-players in the massive map, the last man standing wins the match. The demo we tried only includes solo mode (which means you can’t team up with others) with players separated into a few types of classes. Of course, different classes have their unique skills where you can learn by leveling up, there are maximum 4 skills that you can use in a battle.
To level up, you will have to kill monsters as well as eliminate other players. Judging from the demo, you can level up to level 18 or more in a match. You can also pick up items or equipment such as shoes and armor from defeated monsters and players. There will be potions for you to regenerate your health.
As you can see from the gameplay, a mini-map will appear at the top left indicating your position and the playable area. There are certain areas that you can unlock to enter. Interestingly, A3: Still Alive‘s battle royale mode also features a special type of tower that automatically heals a player (who unlocks the tower) whenever he/she stays in its effective area.
Unlike most of the battle-royale mobile games that allows you to view a far distance, your vision is limited to a small radius around you in A3: Still Alive. Apparently you can still enlarge the visible area with skills and unlocking healing towers though. Footstep icons will show up when another player is nearby, and you will only unleash your normal attack to the direction you are facing.
You can spectate other players until a winner is decided even though you were defeated early. Participating in a match earns you some ranking points and rewards such as experience according to your ranking too.
There is no release date for A3: Still Alive yet, but we heard that there is a plan to release it globally after its Korean launch. Stay tuned for more updates on the game!
