Smilegate Megaport had recently released the global version of Epic Seven, an anime-styled turn-based RPG. The game features anime-like graphics with great visual effects. As the player progresses through the story, more modes and features are unlocked. For this guide, we highlight some of the more important aspects of the game for beginners.
Focus on your main team
Epic Seven has a large variety of characters that the player can summon and utilize. However, this can become an issue when players enter a dilemma on who to use and start throwing together a random lineup. We recommend that it is better to focus on just 1 team. The general lineup for a team should be a Knight in front, followed by either Mage, Thief or Warrior for 2 slots in the middle and a Soul Weaver at the back. The one in the front row will take the most damage hence a Knight is most suitable for it. A Soul Weaver is normally either a buffer, healer or both at the same time. Using this, players should have a balanced lineup with mixing damage and sustain.
An important note that players have to remember is the affinity system which is similar to rock-paper-scissors. In Epic Seven, there are five affinities which are fire, water, earth, light and dark. Players should form a team with mixed affinities to avoid getting countered easily. On the other hand, it is preferable not to form a team with the same affinity. Players should also take into account of their characters’ skills. Try making a team where the characters can synchronize better with each other.
Lastly, there is no such thing as a perfect team. Although players should aim for a team that is good against most mobs and arena teams, players should note that some teams have their niche.
Clear the main story as fast as possible
Most of Epic Seven’s features are unlocked as the player clears the main story. Hence, players should aim to clear the main story as fast as possible to utilize everything from the game. Furthermore, clearing the main story gives access to nodes where players can farm for certain items.
Although players can opt to auto-battle their way through, players should be aware of their progress. Auto-battle does not open chests or react to shrines that give health and soul points. Damage taken at the end of each section will be retained. Players can either wait for it to heal or pay gold to instantly heal.
Players should always remember to pick a supporter. Picking a supporter nets the player friendship points that can be used to exchange for items. On the other hand, bringing a supporter might turn the battle in favour of the player.
Join a guild
When the guild feature becomes available, players should try to join a guild immediately. Joining one grants a variety of bonuses such as crests and gold. Be sure to contribute to your guild as guild leaders would normally not entertain inactive players especially the more hardcore guilds. Players can also opt to form their own guild if they so desired.
Enhance your heroes
Enhancing your heroes is key to maintaining your relevance in the game. As the game goes on, players will start facing tougher enemies down the road. Your heroes’ levels can be used to gauge whether the player is ready for a particular stage.
The easiest way to enhance heroes is by feeding “penguins“. They give the most experience especially when fed to the same affinity. The maximum level of your heroes depend on the “stars”. For example, a 3 star hero has a maximum level of 30 while a 4 star is capped at level 40.
To promote (increase stars and max level) your heroes, players will need to sacrifice similar ranked characters. For example, promoting a 2 star requires two 2 star characters. On the other hand, to promote a 5 star character, players need to sacrifice five 5 star characters.
Don’t forget to check on your heroes’ equipment. Your heroes stats scale based on their equipment so it is recommended to upgrade or give better equipment when possible.
Play Arena and Battle Mode daily
The Arena can be repeatedly challenged by players. Players start with 5 attempts and the attempts recover over time. Hence, players can keep going to the Arena and gather points to exchange to items. There is also a ladder system where players will climb ranks to get better rewards. The rank resets once per week.
On the other hand, the Abyss and Labyrinth in Battle Mode have a limited number of tries per day but grant significant rewards. Players should just expend it daily for efficiency. The Altar grants Runes that players need to Awaken their heroes. On the other hand, Hunts provide players with crafting materials. Both the Altar and Hunts can be repeatedly challenged as long as the player have enough stamina.
Sanctuary
The Sanctuary comes with a variety of structures that can be unlocked by clearing the story. The first to be unlocked is the Heart of Orbis that gives players gold and skystones that are generated over time. The rewards are generated every 4 hours and players have to collect them before the next batch can be generated. The Forest of Souls allows players to breed materials to enhance their team. Players should make it a focus to upgrade this structure to unlock more slots and better materials.
The High Command lets players dispatch a group of characters to get experience, gold and other in-game currencies. Lastly, the Steel Workshop allows players to craft their own equipment. Depending on the grade, players will have to pay a certain amount of gold and crafting materials obtained from Hunts in Battle Mode.
Connections
Connections is one of the more important features in this game. It allows players to obtain heroes without the need to summon them. All players need to do is to clear a specific set of missions for each character. The heroes available in this feature depends on how far the players have progressed through Story Mode. Additionally, the difficulty of the mission is parallel to the rarity of the heroes. For example, it is much easier to obtain a 3 star hero from Connections compared to a 5 star hero. Combined with the free daily Covenant Summon, players have more ways to get heroes.
Re-rolling
Re-rolling has become a common thing in gacha games as players constantly create new accounts to obtain the best or rarest character at the early stages of the game. Epic Seven somehow addresses re-rolling by giving players 30 chances to roll for what the players desired.
After completing the first chapter of Story Mode, players can access the Selective Summon. The feature allows players to roll for 10 random heroes or artifacts that are available in Covenant Summon for free. If the initial 10-roll is not satisfactory, players can try again for another 29 times.
If players are still not satisfied after using all 30 rolls, players can opt to reset the game. Yes, the game provides players with the option to reset. The function can be found in Settings. The reset button allows players to wipe clean their account and begin anew. This allows players to go through the Selective Summon again to try landing their desired hero. Depending on the player’s luck, this can be a painfully long process.
