It’s 2018 now and we’re experiencing the technological advancement of game streaming from anywhere in the world. Sony’s PlayStation Now had done it back in 2014 and now it’s getting more updates to improve its services. Even Nintendo hopped onto the bandwagon as they allowed certain games to be played on their portable Switch console like Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. But it’s still not a service yet as it wasn’t announced by Nintendo.
Now just last night, Microsoft has announced their latest game streaming service which they call Project xCloud. The PlayStation Now cloud server rack is made up of 8 PlayStation 3s. However, Project xCloud is made up of 4 of its powerful XBox One motherboards in one server rack. Microsoft has their first-part cloud Azure to boot and with that, they are making this possible as it was announced by Phil Spencer during E3 2018. Though this is completely different compared to their Scarlett Cloud where users will also be able to stream any games on the console.
Project xCloud aims to allow players to game on any platform, even on their mobile devices, to play their favorite games or even the exclusive games. As it is still in development, Project xCloud will be up for public trials in 2019 and developers will also be able to enjoy the service with no additional work if they planned to release their games on the Xbox One. As currently, Project xCloud is able to run on mobile phones and tablets with an Xbox Wireless Controller paired through Bluetooth, they are also working on touch input configurations as well for those who do not own or wants to use a controller.
Soon, users of the service will be able to enjoy playing their games on their mobiles or tablets anywhere in the world provided there’s internet connection, with or without a controller. Can’t wait for 2019 to come any sooner to try out Halo on mobile! 😀
