Started Dragalia Lost but want to be a tryhard and get a sweet 5 star character to kick things off? Then you have come to the right place. Here we will be breaking the character lineup into to two tiers. Tier 1 essentially means that these are the best characters in the game as of publication, regardless of their element. They will being with them damage and support abilities that benefit the party as a whole. Tier 2 on the other hand basically means that these are still some of the better units out there now, but are somewhat still outclassed by their Tier 1 compatriots. That is not to say that they are inferior, as they would serve well to complement your party.
Tier 1
Julietta
With a good mix of self-sustain and damage output, Julietta acts as a one person army. Glorious Guard and Poison Res +100% lets you mitigate a considerable amount of damage while dishing significant damage back in return. Last Recovery allows Julietta to heal on her own accord, giving her that much more staying power.
Ezelith
As the party debuffer, Elizeth brings a lot to the table. Brilliant Inferno has two uses in that it lower the enemy’s defence while increasing your own attacks. Broken Punisher meanwhile lets you deal more damage to enemies in the break state, ensuring that they never get to recover.
Hildegarde
Being the best healer in the game right now makes Hildegarde a great addition to any party regardless of element. Sacred Guardian gives allies shields, while Recovery Potency makes every other recovery ability that much better.
Lily
Glacial Blossom stuns the enemy in place for a brief moment, allowing the rest of the party to go ham on the target without fear of reprisal. Furthermore, the Skill Damage+ ability means everyone will be able to get more out of their damage skills. Lily herself can also bring the pain as her attack goes up whenever her HP is full.
Nefaria
Being able to blind the enemy means Nefaria is a good friend to melee adventurers. Her stand out strength however is Skill Haste, which boosts the skill gauge recharge rate, making it the best co-ability in the game right now arguably.
Tier 2
Hawk
Stunning enemies from afar makes Hawk one of the better range units right now. He also comes with the much sought after Skill Haste co-ability, which makes him a must have in any party.
Xanfried
A party-wide strength up ability means your DPS will shoot through the roof whenever Xanfried activates it, something which he unfortunately cannot capitalise himself. His ability to extend shapeshift time and the damage dealt by dragons is great if you love to summon.
Mikoto
Just by being in the party, Mikoto makes everyone stronger. With abilities that help him deal even more damage on his own, this samurai is all about the DPS.
Xander
Xander is fairly similar Mikoto in that he focuses on damage output, although he relies heavily on Force Strikes to do so. One could say that Xander is fair more technical character to use, but if you decide to be patient with him, you will be well rewarded.
