[Guide] Brawl Stars – Tips and Guides For Every Brawler
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on TelegramShare on WhatsappShare on Reddit

Brawl Stars is a game by Supercell, the developer that brought us the popular Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. The game has been out since June 2018 and we’ve got our hands on it enough to bring you guys some tips and guides on each Brawler – of who are they strong or weak against. Of course, this is also highly dependent on the play-style and also maps which we will have a guide for later. For now, let’s take a look at the general idea of what you need to know about your Brawler.

      Brawlers

      Shelly

Tips: Shelly uses a shotgun which renders her effective only in short to medium range. She’s good against those who are close to her but she’ll be weak against long ranged brawlers. For her damage to be effective, she has to get to the enemies at point blank most of the time. But the same goes for other short ranged brawlers as well like Bull or El Primo. One way to play her is to be sneaky in the bushes and get in range to obliterate them. If you don’t kill them with 3-4 shots, never be afraid to use your Super move as an extra shot.

Stay away from: Bull, El Primo, Crow, Spike, Frank

      Nita

Tips: Nita is a short ranged brawler like El Primo. Her attacks sends shockwaves onto the ground and spreads out in a cone. Just like El Primo, you’ll need to get close to players to actually land your attacks. However, you have a Super that enables you to summon a bear into a fight. Her Bear has high HP and Attack which can pose a threat to other players. So usually players would try to finish off the bear first which gives Nita the chance to get close to the Brawler and finish them off. She doesn’t need to be sneaky as she will be really effective when she has her Super. As long as you can land your hits on the opponents, summon the bear and you can keep rolling on following behind the bear and deal damage.

Stay away from: Crow, Frank, Bull, El Primo

      Colt

Tips: Colt is a long ranged Brawler with the ability to shoot in volleys. Sure, the damage isn’t much per bullet but it is when all pellets hit the enemy. Though Colt can shoot considerably far, the effectiveness of his damage relies on your accuracy to lead shots. By watching and predicting the movements of your enemies, your chance to kill them is by leading your shots and hoping to hit as many shots as possible. If you’re bad at it, you can also rely on the sneaky way to finish your opponents from the bushes. With the help of your Super that shoots longer volleys and bigger bullets, it’s hard to miss when you’re in close to medium range.

Stay away from: Most Brawlers as he’s only effective if you can hit your shots which is usually in close range situations – which is risky.

      Bull

Tips: Bull, just like Shelly who arms a shotgun, is only effective in close range. However, his range is even shorter than Shelly’s but beefier than Shelly. Due to his shorter effective range, his health pool is much higher which leaves him with only one way to play him – get to close range and blast them off. His damage output is high if he gets in close ranged battles which makes him feared even if you’re playing a tanky Brawler like Frank or El Primo. If you are ever in danger, never hesitate to use your Super to get away a tough situation as he is weak against ranged Brawlers. You can also use it offensively, depending on the situation.

      Stay away from: Dynamike, Barley

      Jessie

Tips: Jessie is a great Brawler against grouped up enemies. Her normal attack shoots out balls of electricity which can bounce off nearby enemies. Because she’s weak and is only effective at medium range, her Super allows her to build a turret which deals mediocre damage. But can be annoying and helps deter threats if placed well. That would give her time to recover and re-engage in a fight. Otherwise, she’s a great team player and bad in Showdown.

Stay away from: Most Brawlers as she’s more of a team player and great only when her Super is up.

      Brock

Tips: Brock arms himself with a rocket launcher. We all love rocket launchers, but not this one. His rocket projectiles fly slow and his reloads are slow as well. However his damage output is really high and has really far range as well. But because his projectiles fly so slowly, you could see it coming from a mile and avoid it. The best way to use him is by going in hiding and surprise unsuspecting enemies shooting them in closer range. His Super sends rocket barrages in an area which deals a ton of damage when hit. All his attacks have a small AoE which compensates his slow projectile speed.

Strong against: Everyone if he gets close for a sure hit and not get ambushed first.

Stay away from: Mostly anyone that has a HP above 5000 as they will be able to dish out enough damage on your 3920 HP.

      Dynamike

Tips: Dynamike is an old drunkard that throws dynamite sticks all over the place. If that’s not problematic enough, he’s able to lob his dynamites over behind a safety of a wall. Due to his low health pool, he is really vulnerable to close combat like Bull, Shelly or El Primo. However if you have your Super, you’d want to use it right away and obliterate them before they do onto you. He’s strong against many and takes a higher skill to hit with his dynamites as they do bounce for a bit and have a very short fuse before it explodes. Just like Brock, he deals a small AoE.

Strong against: Everyone if he doesn’t get caught as he won’t survive with 3920 HP.

Stay away from: Mortis, Bull, El Primo, Shelly

      Bo

Tips: Bo is an archer who’s equipped with explosive arrows. His Super enables him to throw mines in an area which will be invisible and triggered when the enemy steps on it. The damage from Bo is not something to overlook at and can deal devastating damage if one is not careful. Though his range is far, he is still vulnerable to close quarter combat like Shelly, Bull or El Primo as his health pool isn’t relevantly high. So it’s best to keep a distant and shoot from far. During clutch moments is where Bo shines with his Super placed in a strategic area.

Strong against: Anyone if you keep in range or hit every shot. His Super will be useful if well placed.

Stay away from: Dynamike and Barley as they can lob over their attacks and any other close ranged Brawlers.

      El Primo

Tips: El Primo, the beastly wrestler who has high health pool just like Frank, can take down opponents if they are too close. Because he’s a melee brawler, he needs to get close to his opponents. Strategically, the only way to get to your opponents without being harmed or noticed is by sneaking up on them. Once you get in range with them, El Primo can pretty much K.O. an enemy with 3-4 hits. Of course, his Super is one that can be used very situational as he can leap over walls and break them. So either use it offensively to jump on an enemy or jump away to safety.

Strong against: Anyone that has a low health pool.

Stay away from: Dynamike and Barley if you’re not in a position to get close to him like for example, behind a wall unless you have Super ready.

      Barley

Tips: Barley is pretty much like Dynamike, except that Barley throws fiery bottles that deals damage in a small area that lingers for about 2 seconds. Anyone who stands in the area will be damaged so it’s best to throw it at choke points. As Barley can also lob his bottles over walls, he’s great at flanking enemies or flushing them out from bushes. His Super is a powerful AOE where he throws fiery bottles rampantly onto the target area and sets enemies on fire. Barley can deal a ton of damage but his health pool is low so he’s really vulnerable to being two-shotted by Bull, Shelly or even El Primo in close combat.

Stay away from: Anyone that’s close ranged. The wall is your best friend.

      Poco

Tips: Poco is more of a team player as his Super can heal himself and his teammates. However, he is still viable in a Showdown as he has the sustain to survive long enough to take down the enemy. Of course, he isn’t great against a group of enemies as his health pool is moderately low. Poco is still vulnerable to close combat but since his buff on his attack range, he can keep enemies at bay as his attack spreads in a wide cone. His strengths lie in his sustainability and supporting the team in Gem Grab.

Stay away from: Bull, Shelly, El Primo, Frank

      Ricochet

Tips: Ricochet can do what his name does, ricochet bullets. He’s a robot from the West and he shoots volleys of bullets just like Colt, except that his can ricochet off walls and hit enemies hiding from your LOS (line of sight). Ricochet requires some skill to play him as the bullets trajectory may show, it will change when you move your character to the left or right. Of course, staying idle and shoot is a bad idea which is why Ricochet is one brawler you’ll need to master. He’s really good in maps that has choke points and walls. Just like Colt, his damage per bullet isn’t high unless you hit them all. His Super also does the same, except that it pierces through enemies and bounce off walls, allowing the bullets to hit multiple enemies. Like most ranged brawlers, his health pool is low so it’s best to stay away from brawlers that can burst him down easily.

Stay away from: Bull, Shelly, El Primo, Frank

      Darryl

Tips: Darryl is another robot just like Ricochet. He however can’t ricochet bullets, but his Super move puts him in a barrel, roll around in high-speed and ricochet off walls damaging any enemy in its path! Once he gets close to anyone, he can deal tons of damage with his dual barrel shotgun. He also has a high health pool so he can pretty much take a beating before you can take him down. Because of his mobility from his Super, he can be a great Gem carrier in Gem Grab. He can go into fights and back away quickly using his Super. Of course, because he is only effective in short range, he is vulnerable to long range attacks.

      Stay away from:

      Penny

Tips: Penny is a pirate that shoots money at you and deal damage, piercing enemies behind as well. She does not have a very high health pool but she i strong when she has a well placed Super up. Her Super allows her to deploy a cannon that shoots enemies from a far AND behind walls. This puts her in a position where she is strong in maps like Bounty, Heist and Boss Fight (the cannon acts as a distraction and dealing extra damage whenever possible). She’s bad in Solo Showdown but she’s great paired with Jessie in a Duo Showdown, dual turret strat.

Stay away from: Most Brawlers as she’s more of a team player and great only when her Super is up.

      Piper

Tips: Piper is just like Brock, except she’s not shooting rockets, she’s shooting a sniper bullet. She has the same range as Brock and she deals a ton of damage based on the travel distance of her bullet. As she is a sniper, she needs to sit back and shoot her enemies from a far. With a low health pool, she’s again vulnerable to close combat but her Super is a mobility skill where she can jump away from enemies and deal some damage at the same time. She requires an amount of skill to master as her bullets can be dodged easily and you will need to lead your shots. Shooting from close distance isn’t going to go well for Piper as her reload speed is pretty slow and her damage will be less as it is based on travel distance. If you are good with her, Piper is great to be used in open maps with less walls and as a support covering fire for allies.

Stay away from: Bull, El Primo, Shelly, Mortis

      Pam

Tips: Pam shoots a cone of scrap metal in front of her and they are usually random. They can deal a decent amount of damage but because of the randomness of her bullets, it is not a very reliable source of damage. Pam is mostly a supporter as her Super drops a healing station. She’s really good in Gem grabs as she has a higher health pool at 5880 when maxed. Her healing station is great for providing heals during combat as Brawlers are unable to regenerate during combat. This allows the team and herself to fight and heal at the same time which will keep enemies at bay or lose their ground – unless they take out the healing station which usually results in their defeat. Pam is heavily reliant on her team mates so she’s rarely used in Showdowns unless you are able to outlive the rest. Otherwise, it’s best to play her in a team based map.

Strong against: Strong against Crow perhaps because of her healing station negating the poison damage. However that’s still highly situational based on the map.

Stay away from: Most Brawlers as she’s mostly a support role

      Frank

Tips: Frank is one of the Brawlers that can put up a fight if you’re in close to mid range of him. He has a high health pool which allows him to take hits. However, Frank is still susceptible to close range shotgun damage. Because his attack is slow and hits in a cone in front of him, if you get close to him and run around his corners, he will have a hard time hitting you. His Super is also a cone attack but with a stun. When an enemy is stunned, it allows Frank or with team mates to take down the enemy easily. His damage isn’t to be baffled with as well, so it’s best to not get hits from him and avoid his attacks. One way to fight him is to get close to him and hit him at pointblank range. He’s really great in Showdowns as with a high HP and stacking Power-Ups, he’s basically unkillable. However, Brawlers like Mortis can give him a real good beating.

Stay away from: Mortis, El Primo, Bull

      Mortis

Tips: Mortis is perhaps the most unorthodox vampire in Brawl Stars. He uses a shovel that requires him to get to melee range in order to deal damage. Though, once he does get in range, it is hard to hit him unless you are quick enough as his attacks are short dashes which makes him real quick and hard to catch. However, his reload time is pretty slow. So if you are playing Mortis, be sure to not spam your attacks dashing around without paying attention to your cooldown. Land enough attacks, you will generate a Super that can deal damage and life leach an opponent. It’s a really cool ability which cuts down on the time you need to heal up completely so you can get into the action as soon as possible. Mortis is strongest when he gets close to anyone with his mediocre HP at 5320 when maxed. However, if his attacks are not used properly, most heroes will be able to take him out especially heroes like Shelly, Bull or El Primo.

Stay away from: Bull, Shelly, El Primo

      Tara

Tips: Tara though a Mythic Brawler is not as powerful as her rarity claims. She deals mediocre damage and has a mediocre health pool. Though she deals more damage if all 3 cards she’s thrown hits a target, she has to get close to the target first as her attack hits in a cone in front of her. Thus, leaving her susceptible to heavy fire if she gets close to anyone. Playing around the bushes and ambush is the key to win with her. As her attacks are like of a shotgun, she would be best to go against Colt, Bo, Piper or Brock if they are caught off guard. Tara’s Super is a black hole that sucks up enemies nearby and explodes. If you’ve unlocked her Star Power, her Super will project an illusion of Tara to attack nearby enemies with weaker attacks and lower health pool. She’s best to team up and combo with team mates like Dynamike’s or Bo’s Super.

Stay away from: Colt, Bo, Piper, Brock

      Spike

Tips: Spike is a cactus that has a thorn for each and every enemy. When he throws a ball of spike, its spikes would separate into multi directions which could hit around the corners, making hard to hit places possible. While he is pretty low on the health pool department, his damage makes up for it. His range isn’t that far but his spikes make it up for it as well. If his spike ball gets a direct hit, the damage is immense as all spikes from the ball hits the opponent. His Super is more of an area denial where he deploys spikes on an area dealing damage and slowing the enemies who walk in it. Because of his low health pool, he is best to stay away from close range Brawlers like El Primo, Bull, Shelly and Mortis alike. He’s great in most maps and pose to be a great team mate as well.

Stay away from: Bull, Shelly, Frank, Mortis

      Crow

Tips: Crow is one bird that you don’t want to mess with. Albeit his low damage, his poison makes up for it. He deals decent damage per dagger, but one hit from the dagger will poison the enemy for 2 seconds. So if all daggers hit, that’s 6 seconds of initial attack damage more onto the enemy. Crow doesn’t burst an enemy down but he takes them down slowly which makes him vulnerable to Brawlers that could just jump onto him and brutally force their way on him. However, Crow’s Super allows him to jump onto anywhere in range and release daggers in a 360 degree. His Super is usually used offensively but because of his low health pool, some times it’s wise to use it defensively and jump away to heal up. If he’s caught up in an ambush, the likelihood of living is almost close to none as he has not enough damage to burst any brawler down fast enough. He’s best doing the ambush and poking enemies until they die. He’s best playing in a team for his defensive role keeping enemies low on health.

Stay away from: Bull, Shelly, El Primo, Frank, Daryll, Ricochet

Of course as mentioned earlier, these are just a general idea of what you can expect if you’re playing either alone or playing in a Team. The conditions of the map is also variable and important which can affect the way you should or should not play. With the tips and guide provided above, we hope you guys can understand and take it with a grain of salt – and we hope you can reach 500 trophies and more for your favorite Brawlers! 😀
