The Legend of Zelda has been a very popular game ever since it was released in 1986. The game has spawned many fans from the 90’s to come up with many games that are Zelda-like today. We covered a few previously like Oceanhorn 2 and Ittle Dew 2 that offers pretty much that experience and more. Now, there’s a new one that’s adding into the genre and that’s Hazelnut Bastille by AloftStudio!
Hazelnut Bastille was made in a 16-bit Japanese RPG style and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), Mac and even Linux! Just like The Legend of Zelda, the game tells a deep story too, where we follow a lone young woman who braved terrible odds to retrieve something that was taken from her. On her journey, she befriended a band of Castouts and Knaves living on the fringe of the world and together, they unravel the mysteries of a vast and unknowable past.
Players will also experience a Metroidvania progression with a classic open-world Overworld and Dungeon format as seen above. As it is made in a classic 16-bit graphic and audio style, it also samples an 8-voice Chiptune and lofi sample soundtrack. Just like the Zelda games, we will be greeted with the classic 8-way and 4-way navigation modes as we venture forth. With a diverse bunch of enemies, players will need to observe and learn the enemies’ patterns in order to counter-attack, thus giving it a high-skill ceiling of learning. There are also plenty of items and equipments that players can obtain, so it’s very customized according to a player’s playstyle.
If you want to know more, you can check out their official site! For now, there’s no official launch date announced yet but we’re hoping that it will be soon.
