At the Tokyo Game Show 2018 held in Makuhari Messe, Japan, we were fortunate to meet with Yosuke Tomizawa, who’s in charge of the God Eater franchise alongside with the producer, Yuya Tomiyama. As God Eater 3 is coming on the PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2019, we’d like to get some new info with the producers during TGS 2018.
Check out our gameplay during TGS 2018 below:
What’s In Stored For Us?
Aragamis
During the interview, we asked a couple of questions regarding the game. One of which we were interested in was the number of Aragamis that we will be able to encounter in the game this time. While currently, we’ve already been introduced to 6 new Aragamis namely the Anubis, Ra, Habakiri, Nuada, Barbarus and Guuzou, there will also be 5 known Aragamis from the previous titles in the game which includes Sariel, Marduk, Hannibal, Chrome Gawain and Vajra.
Though these 5 Aragamis will be upgraded in God Eater 3 and you will need help of the new Adaptive God Eaters; in short AGE. Currently, only the Ash Aragamis are known to have a Devouring Attack but it is unknown if other types of Aragamis are capable of the attack as well. There will be more Aragamis in the future which will include Aragamis from previous titles.
New Actions
As you might already know, the game is pretty fast-paced paired with high-action RPG where you fight huge Aragamis. With the usual 4 actions that you can perform in the game which are Slash, Shoot, Guard and Devour. However this time, you won’t be the only one that’s capable of devouring – the Aragamis can devour you too! Once the Aragami has devoured, they will be in a stronger phase which will pose danger to you and your party.
Though in God Eater 3, you can evade being devoured as the movements in the game has been improved where you can dodge and close the distance between the Aragami easily. With a new action called Dive, players will be able to dive onto the Aragami with an attack. This is also accompanied with another new feature called Burst Arts where players can combine different types of action to allow for extensive ground battles or air battles. This time, players will be able to equip up to 3 Burst Arts compared to the old Blood Art where players can only equip 1.
Weapons
Thanks to the new Ashborn Aragamis, AGE has learned new tricks as well to keep humanity from extinction. A new form of close-range God Arc called Biting-Edge was created which has two forms which are Dual Wielding and Mow-Down. In Dual Wielding mode, it allows players to strike with quick slashes and thrusts. It can then transform into the Mow-Down mode which halts player’s stamina regeneration but has a wide-range of attacks that hit real hard.
Along with a new addition to the long-range God Arc is the Raygun. The Raygun fires “radiation shots” which becomes stronger the longer it is charged. However, the power resets every time so it should only be used in a timely manner. It’s also good to note that the bullets are customizable.
Transportation
With the world in a post-apocalyptic state devoured by the Aragamis, it is almost impossible to traverse the Ashlands without a special kind of transport called the Carravan. As people seek their sanctuary underground which they called Port, so far there are a couple of known Ports in the game which are Pennywort and Baran. There will be a couple of characters introduced in the game that came from these Ports.
Special Collaborations
Unfortunately there are no collaborations in the producer’s minds right now as we thought it’d be cool that we could have a collaboration with other IPs like Soulcalibur to get their weapons. However, we hope that could actually happen once the game is released.
So far, the details that were revealed during the interview were pretty much known and released to the public already. Guess the producers are hiding some of the important details from us to keep the experience from being spoilt. But we do hope to know more about the story and outcome of the experiments as we believe there’s a deeper and dark story on the making of the new AGE weapons. Nonetheless, we’re still expecting this game for the PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2019.
For now, here’s a picture of the producers at TGS 2018:
