Remember that ‘ol pet virtual game that you play on the browser, Neopets? Well it’s actually being brought to mobile this coming Autumn (September – December)! It has been 19 years since Neopets had existed since 1999 and the current owner of Neopets, JumpStart Games, is making the game for mobile.
If you don’t know what Neopets is from the name itself, it’s a game where you create your virtual pet and explore the virtual world of Neopia. Since it’s a pet, you’ll need to of course, feed it and care for it before it dies of hunger. Like another all time favorite browser game, Pet Society (or Pet Paradise, the mobile version), you can also customize your Neopets with clothes, accessories and furnish their Neohome with furniture, wallpaper and even flooring! You might think that Neopets are family friendly but they are pretty competitive because you can even use them to battle against other Neopets or other non-player characters in the Battledome!
It was just over the weekend during the San Diego Comic Con where Neopets Legends and Letters was announced – a game that mashes Neopets and Scrabble with a touch of puzzle in it. Alongside with this announcement, they will also be launching an app that will allow us to play all the popular mini-games from the site on our phone!
However, we will not be able to login to our browser account so we’ll have to say our byes to our Neopets. It is also unclear if the Neopoints can be transferred when the mobile version comes. You can still visit the official site and visit your Neopet if you still remember your account!
The CEO of JumpStart Games, David Lord said that the game will include: “Neopets lore, a puzzle game mechanic and battles,” and the Scrabble-like word game that was mentioned earlier. The game that will bring us down memory lane again is expected to be released in October this year for both iOS and Android devices.
