Remember the lawsuit filed by League of Legends (LoL) developer, Riot Games against Mobile Legends developer, Shanghai Moontoon Technology for alleged copyright infringements last year? According to Fordham, the case is then dismissed on procedural grounds pursuant to the doctrine forum non-conveniens (which means it is dismissed because another court, probably Shanghai, is much better suited to hear the case).
Tencent launched a new lawsuit against Moontoon in Shanghai afterwards and won the case, which in result Moontoon have to pay an amount of 19.4 million RMB (about 2.9 million USD) to Tencent.
In the original lawsuit between Riot Games and Moontoon, Riot claims that the designs of several games from Moontoon – Magic Rush: Heroes and Mobile Legends carries a great similarity with various LoL assets such as the characters, map designs, and monster designs.

Interestingly, Tencent’s very own popular MOBA, King of Glory (王者荣耀) is joining forces with Riot to sue Moontoon for another copyright infringement case too.
