NIS America has officially announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon will be coming to Western audiences this fall. The title, known in Japan as “The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria,” will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game first debuted in Japan and Asia for PlayStation consoles on September 26, 2024, with the PC version following on January 23, 2025 in Asian markets.
This installment marks a significant moment for the long-running Trails series, as it enters what’s being described as its “final chapter.” The game continues the story of Van Arkride and his Arkride Solutions team, now facing their greatest challenge yet as the fate of the entire Zemurian continent hangs in the balance.
The narrative centers around humanity’s first venture into space, complicated by a mysterious invitation from Marduk for a high-tech training exercise. This sets up a convergence of major characters from across the franchise, including Van Arkride, Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer, and Father Kevin Graham, as they confront the fundamental secrets of Zemuria.

The gameplay introduces several new mechanics, including Shard Commands, Awakening abilities, and a time-freezing feature called Z.O.C., which reportedly provides players with expanded options in both Field and Command Battles. The game also features the Grim Garten, a customizable dungeon where players can assemble their ideal party from allies throughout Calvard and beyond.
For collectors, NIS America is offering a Limited Edition bundle that includes the Deluxe Edition of the game, an art book, original mini soundtrack, SteelBook case, and a “Grim Timekeeper” acrylic clock, all packaged in a collector’s box. Western fans of the series can look forward to experiencing this culmination of the Trails saga when it arrives later this year.
