SEGA has revealed that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will host their first ever open global championship tournament. A trailer for the event was released yesterday as it sets the stage for a significant moment in which SEGA will crown the tournament’s $100,000 USD champion.
The competition will begin across four regions, including North America, Europe, Japan, and Asia. The tournament will take place on the Steam version of the game, where players will have the opportunity to compete for victory. The first qualifier will take place at COMBO BREAKER 2025 on May 23 to 25. However, no additional details have been shared regarding other tournaments in the circuit, including EVO Japan, which is also scheduled for the same month.

EVO Japan will feature its own Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. championship tournament, along with a 5 vs. 5 competition and the Beat Tribe Cup. It must be noted this separate competition will not be included as a designated tournament of the Virtua Fighter Open Championship.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is available to install on Steam, while its counterpart Ultimate Showdown, is also available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Details on regional tournaments and terms of entry will be shared through the official website as each event draws near so be sure to stay tuned for more information if interested in putting your skills to the test.
