Nintendo’s legal team has reportedly approached Genki, an accessory manufacturer, at CES in Las Vegas regarding their display of what they claimed to be an accurate replica of Nintendo’s next gaming system the Switch 2.
According to French journalist Julien Tellouck, Genki representatives confirmed the encounter with Nintendo’s lawyers but maintained they were unconcerned about potential legal implications. “They’ve never signed any papers with Nintendo, no confidentiality agreement, no NDA,” Tellouck reported, as translated by The Game Post.
The confrontation follows Genki’s presentation at CES, where they showcased what they described as an accurate replica of Nintendo’s unannounced next system. The company also made claims about having viewed a final unit of the console and shared details about its planned release date. When approached about the leaked mockups, Nintendo’s only public response has been to inform a Japanese newspaper that the designs were not “official.”
The situation regarding the Switch 2 replica has garnered additional attention as a reputable tech leaker, known for accurately revealing designs of Samsung phones and Pixel devices, has recently shared what they claim to be the most accurate 360-degree render of the supposed Switch 2 to date. Genki has not issued any public statement regarding the reported interaction with Nintendo’s legal team.
