Accessories manufacturer Genki is currently showcasing what it claims to be an accurate replica of the yet-to-be-announced Nintendo Switch 2 console at the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES 2025. The company is presenting the device in private demonstrations to invited guests, allowing them to get hands-on experience with what could represent the form factor of Nintendo’s next gaming system.
According to German publication Netzwelt, which had the opportunity to examine the replica, the purported Nintendo Switch 2 features notable design changes from its predecessor. The device is reportedly larger than the current Switch, with a revised Joy-Con attachment mechanism that utilizes a magnetic connection rather than the current sliding rail system. The right Joy-Con controller also appears to feature an additional button not present on the current model.
Genki states that their replica matches the “exact dimensions” of Nintendo’s unannounced console and is using the model to demonstrate their planned accessories, including controllers and a docking station for the future system.
While Nintendo has confirmed they will reveal their Switch successor during the current fiscal year (ending March 2025), they have not made any official announcements regarding the console’s design or specifications. This showcase comes amid a series of alleged leaks, including purported images of the console’s internal components, Joy-Cons, and dock design. Recent reports suggest the new system may ship with a more powerful 60W charger, potentially making it incompatible with the original Switch’s power adapter when docked.
