One of Southeast-Asia’s largest, and longest-running animation, comics and games (ACG) convention Comic Fiesta has returned. This year Comic Fiesta 2024 made a strong impression in the gaming scene, featuring an extensive Gaming Zone that brought together industry heavyweights and beloved titles.
The event saw participation from prominent game publishers including NIKKE and Yostar, known for popular titles Azur Lane and Arknights. Other major gaming franchises such as Honor of Kings, PUBG, and MapleStory also established engaging booth presence with interactive demonstrations and mini-games for attendees.
Beyond gaming, the event marked the first appearance of MUSE, which brought merchandise from current anime hits including Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Spy x Family. Photo zones featuring popular series such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyu!!, and Chainsaw Man attracted crowds of enthusiastic fans.
The trading card game community found a welcoming space at the event, with dedicated areas for Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Ultraman Cards, Bushiroad, and Cookie Run: Kingdom. In addition, these sections offered purchase opportunities for new card packs and hosted beginner-friendly tutorials to introduce new players to their respective game systems.
The event’s Art Market highlighted Malaysia’s creative talent in anime culture, while the Cosplay Market hosted over 70 notable cosplayers from both local and international scenes. Despite high attendance numbers, organizers maintained efficient crowd management through clear signage and dedicated staff presence.
Day 1 proved that Comic Fiesta 2024 hit it out of the park this year. This year’s Comic Fiesta demonstrated the growing convergence of gaming and anime culture in Malaysia, setting a promising precedent for future iterations of the event.
Whether you were there for the games, anime merch, local art scene, or just to hang out with fellow fans, the event delivered on all fronts. Moreover, it’s pretty clear that Comic Fiesta has grown into something special in Malaysia’s pop culture scene, and if this year’s success is anything to go by, fans are in for an even better treat at future events.
