The Zenless Zone Zero latest update briefly introduced an unexpected change to the game’s camera system, which was swiftly reversed following player feedback. Version 1.4 of Zenless Zone Zero initially implemented a new feature that caused character models to fade out when viewed from certain angles, particularly affecting players’ ability to view characters from behind.

The camera modification was part of a larger update, but players quickly noticed and voiced their dissatisfaction with the change. Before any official explanation could be provided about the intent behind the feature, miHoYo had already deployed a hotfix addressing the concern. In their patch notes, miHoYo acknowledged the issue, stating they “fixed an issue in Version 1.4 where the fading effect of the ‘Agent appears faded when viewed from specific angles’ adjustment did not display correctly under certain circumstances.”

While the hotfix has restored most camera functionality, some restrictions remain in place for extreme viewing angles. Technical analysts speculate the original change may have been implemented to prevent camera clipping issues, a common concern in third-person action games.
As compensation for various Version 1.4 issues in Zenless Zone Zero, including this camera adjustment, miHoYo is offering players 300 Polychrome through in-game mail. The compensation is available to players who reached Inter-Knot Level 4 before December 19, 2024. The developer continues to monitor player feedback and has stated their commitment to providing “the best possible gaming experience” for their player base.
