PlayStation’s 2024 has been a stellar year, and the PlayStation Blog has revealed the winners of its highly anticipated Game of the Year awards, with 1.6 million fans casting their votes across 19 categories. Astro Bot was the standout, dominating the awards with six wins, including Best PlayStation 5 Game, Best Art Direction, and Best Audio Design. Following its triumph at The Game Awards, Astro Bot continues to capture the hearts of PlayStation fans.
In addition to Astro Bot’s success, other fan-favorite titles were also celebrated. Stellar Blade’s protagonist Eve took home the Best New Character award, while Silent Hill 2 claimed Best Story for its hauntingly immersive narrative. Black Myth: Wukong earned the title of Best Graphical Showcase for its breathtaking visuals, further cementing its place among the year’s most anticipated titles.
The Best Multiplayer Experience award went to Helldivers 2, which had a successful run on the PlayStation platform. Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion won Best Expansion, marking another win for the already iconic franchise. Indie titles also made a significant impact, with Balatro, a Poker-inspired roguelike, winning Best Independent Game.
The 2024 PlayStation Blog awards also saw Team Asobi named Studio of the Year, thanks to its work on Astro Bot. As for what’s to come, PlayStation fans are already eagerly anticipating Ghost of Yotei, which took home the Most Anticipated Game of 2025 and Beyond award, beating out other high-profile titles such as Marvel’s Wolverine and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
With a year full of memorable releases and achievements, PlayStation has solidified its place as the platform of choice for gamers, and these awards are a testament to the excellence of the games that defined 2024.
