NetEase’s latest multiplayer shooter, Marvel Rivals, has rapidly gained popularity, reaching 20 million players just days after its December 6 release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Alongside the player milestone Marvel Rivals has announced a holiday update which drops mid-December.
The milestone was announced on X (formerly Twitter), following the game’s previous claim of hitting 10 million players within its first three days of availability.

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play 6v6 team-based shooter that allows players to battle as various Marvel heroes and villains from iconic teams like the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men. The game is developed by a new NetEase internal team composed of global talent with previous experience on renowned franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.
Exciting news for players comes in the form of a Winter Celebration update, set to launch on December 19 at 11pm PST. The Marvel Rivals holiday event promises new costumes, a unique game mode inspired by Splatoon, and additional surprises that have yet to be revealed. A trailer showcasing the update is currently available for fans to preview.
