SEGA has announced that its acclaimed fighting game series will make its PC debut with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. on Steam. This new version builds upon Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, which was previously exclusive to PlayStation 4, and introduces several significant technical improvements.
The PC release will feature rollback netcode implementation, a crucial addition for fighting game enthusiasts that should provide a more responsive online experience. Players can expect to enjoy the game in 4K resolution running at up to 60 frames per second, along with various game balance adjustments.
The game will maintain its roster of 19 playable characters, each with their own distinct fighting styles and customization options. Players can engage in various modes including Arcade, Rank Match, Training, and Versus. The online functionality has been expanded to support tournaments and leagues with up to 16 participants, complemented by a spectator mode for watching and learning from other players.
The enhanced visuals extend beyond just resolution improvements, featuring updated character models, reimagined stages, and refined cinematics that bring the classic fighter into the modern era while maintaining its distinctive aesthetic. In addition, for competitive players, the implementation of rollback netcode represents a significant upgrade over previous versions, potentially revitalizing the game’s online community.
Moreover, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is scheduled for release this winter on PC. Coinciding with this launch, the PlayStation 4 version of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will receive a version 2.0 game balance update to maintain parity between platforms.
