“We Were the Better Team Today”: Unsigned5 Reflects on Predator League Malaysia Qualifier Victory

We had the opportunity to interview the victorious UNSIGNED5 team following their commanding win at the Malaysia Qualifiers for Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 – Valorant. The team, fresh from their triumph over defending champions Todak, shared insights into their victory, strategies, and aspirations for the upcoming international tournament.

Sweet Victory Over Defending Champions

The atmosphere was electric as team members reflected on their victory. “It feels pretty good to win against Todak,” shared Riza, who had previously faced defeat against them last year as part of Team Path. “I did lose to them last year against them and by one map… some of them were my ex teammates who even lost to Todak also. So it’s pretty sad, but I’m also happy in the end because we won.”

Flaring expressed measured satisfaction, stating, “I think in my eyes, it’s definitely a tournament that we should be winning convincingly. And although we had a weak start, we showed mental fortitude and then we won every map after mine very cleanly.”

markL and Fixy emphasized their dedication to success. “We work pretty hard for it and I’m just glad that the result shows that it work how hard,” markL reflected. Fixy added, “I’m feeling really happy because our hard work really paid off. Our practice and all that has come down and I feel really proud of all five of us can manage to defeat Todak.”

theDoctorr, bringing a veteran’s perspective, maintained a confident stance: “Beating Todak is not something new for me, and I have always anticipated it. But again, I’m not discrediting them, but we were the better team today.”

Strategic Patience and Leadership

When discussing their tactical approach during the second match’s critical moments, theDoctorr revealed their strategic depth. “Is basically like what we feel like they’re gonna do that time because for them is like do or die. So we think they’re gonna do something creative. So we just decide to just wait for it and react,” he explained, demonstrating the team’s ability to read and counter their opponents.

Despite theDoctorr’s role as the team’s strategic voice, UNSIGNED5 operates with a collaborative approach to decision-making. “Individually, we are all very experienced,” theDoctorr explained. “Everybody in the team is very experienced enough to do their own stuff. So everybody will chip in ideas, will give ideas. For me, I’m just like a voice that everybody has to follow where you need someone to hold the rope so that the team just doesn’t spread apart.”

Endurance Through a Marathon Day and Looking Ahead 

The team’s victory came after a grueling 12-hour competition day that began at 8 AM, including both BO3 and BO5 matches. theDoctorr acknowledged the challenge: “Obviously I feel tired because yesterday I honestly I did not get really enough sleep and the event starts really early. I mean doing a BO3 and BO5 on the same day is very tiring. I mean, I’ve gone through that. So I guess I’m okay with it, but it is very tiring.”

As Malaysia’s representatives for the upcoming Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 in January, UNSIGNED5 maintains a respectful stance toward their future competition. “Not particularly, but I would say that every regions are strong. All the representatives from every region, they’re all very strong teams. So we just want to show our A game during the Asia Pacific Predator League 2025,” theDoctorr noted.

In his closing remarks, theDoctorr expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I want to say thank you to all my supporters, my family and friends who have supported me throughout my journey here, because it hasn’t been an easy journey and it is still an ongoing journey. I hope everybody can still keep on supporting me during this journey.”

UNSIGNED5 now looks forward to representing Malaysia on the international stage at the Asia Pacific Predator League 2025.
