Nexon has officially unveiled the title of their previously announced Project DW as Dungeon & Fighter: ARAD, an ambitious open-world action RPG in development for multiple platforms including console, PC, and mobile devices.
The game is based on the globally successful Dungeon & Fighter franchise, which has attracted an impressive 850 million players worldwide. According to Nexon, players will explore the continent of Arad alongside a diverse cast of characters while experiencing the franchise’s signature battle action system.
Set in the world of Arad, a continent created by the Great Mage Myre, the game’s setting has deep ties to the series’ lore. Historically, Arad maintained contact with Empyrean through the Sky Tower until the arrival of Bakal, the King of Dragons, though specific details about the game’s time period within this timeline remain unconfirmed. This setting could potentially offer players a glimpse into the franchise’s rich historical background, particularly if the game takes place during the pivotal period of Bakal’s emergence.
The announcement marks a significant evolution for the Dungeon & Fighter franchise, expanding into the open-world action RPG genre while maintaining its distinctive combat mechanics that fans have come to love.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more information, as Nexon will showcase Dungeon & Fighter: ARAD at G-Star 2024 from November 14th to 17th in South Korea, where they will reveal more gameplay details. While Nexon has not yet announced a release date, the game represents their continued investment in the action RPG genre, alongside their other upcoming title The First Berserker: Khazan, which will launch in early 2025.
