Nintendo has Announced Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is Coming to the Switch

Publisher Nintendo and developer Monolith Soft have announced Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch, set to launch worldwide on March 20, 2025, for $59.99. Notably, this remastered version of the 2015 Wii U game features enhanced visuals, additional story elements, and more.

Eager Xenoblade fans can pre-order the game now on the Switch eShop or the My Nintendo store, and a physical release will also be available. Furthermore, the Definitive Edition introduces exciting new gameplay features, allowing players to team up with up to 32 others online in Squad Tasks, Online Missions, and the challenging Global Nemesis Battles. These additions significantly enhance the cooperative experience, bringing fresh dynamics to the gameplay.

Originally released for the Wii U in 2015, Xenoblade Chronicles X is an open-world action RPG developed by Monolith Soft. The story unfolds in 2054 as humanity finds itself caught in a battle between two alien races, which ultimately leads to Earth’s destruction. A fleet of ships carrying human survivors escapes into space, with only one—the USS White Whale—managing to flee. After drifting for two years, the ship crash-lands on the uncharted and hostile planet Mira.

Upon landing, survivors establish a new home called New Los Angeles (NLA), determined to rebuild civilization while facing environmental dangers and fierce creatures. Players assume the role of a customizable avatar, a member of an elite task force known as BLADE. As a BLADE operative, your mission involves exploring Mira’s vast landscapes, locating missing White Whale escape pods, and recovering the Lifehold, a vital ship component housing the rest of the human population in stasis. Additionally, players will pilot Skells, advanced robots that can fly and transform for efficient travel.
