Hold onto your scouters, the latest entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi or Sparking! series has arrived, and has brought along an old nemesis that’s driving players absolutely ape. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero recently launched on October 8 for pre-order customers, with a general release set on October 11. While the game has been well-received by Dragon Ball fans, one particular challenge is standing out among players: the Great Ape Vegeta fight.
Occurring relatively early in the game’s story mode, the Great Ape Vegeta battle has quickly gained notoriety for its difficulty. Players report struggling against the boss’s combination of random, unrelenting, and rapid attacks, all of which deal significant damage.
Common complaints include the high damage of Vegeta’s ki blasts, the frequency of his special attacks, and his ability to quickly deplete the player’s health bar. His powerful grab attacks and super armor also make close-range combat hazardous. However, if Great Ape Vegeta continues to be a significant obstacle for players, Bandai Namco suggests players should lower the difficulty.

In response to the widespread difficulty, Bandai Namco’s social media accounts have addressed the issue. The UK Twitter account posted a gif of the attack with the caption “this monke got hands,” while the US account offered a more direct piece of advice, stating that “a win is a win” and suggesting players “lower difficulty and retry.”

Despite the challenge, many players are taking the difficulty in stride, with some even citing their “Saiyan pride” as a reason to persevere rather than lower the difficulty. Outside of this particular challenge, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero appears to be resonating well with fans. Players have praised features such as the game’s Encyclopaedia Mode, which demonstrates the developer’s attention to series lore.
