In a unique collaboration announced on October 8, 2024, AirAsia is teaming up with gaming giants SEGA and ATLUS to bring iconic gaming franchises to the skies. This partnership, part of AirAsia’s ‘The Colour Of Connection’ campaign, will feature aircraft adorned with characters from Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 5.
Two aircraft will showcase special liveries: an AirAsia X Airbus A330 featuring Sonic and his friends, and an AirAsia Malaysia Airbus A320 displaying Persona 5 characters Joker and Morgana. These themed planes will operate across AirAsia’s network, covering over 100 destinations in Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region.
The collaboration extends beyond visual aesthetics. Passengers on certain AirAsia flights will have the opportunity to enjoy Sonic-themed in-flight catering, including “Sonic’s Golden Ring Cakes,” available for pre-booking. Additionally, exclusive merchandise featuring both Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 5 designs will be available for purchase starting in the first quarter of 2025.
This initiative aims to merge the worlds of gaming and aviation, offering fans a unique travel experience while showcasing these popular gaming franchises. The partnership comes at an exciting time for both properties, with the upcoming release of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” in theaters and the continued success of Persona 5 Royal. The gaming-themed flights are set to begin operations soon, with bookings available through the AirAsia MOVE platform.
