The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has unveiled plans for the Tokyo Game Show Digital World 2024 (TGSDW 2024), set to run from September 20 to October 6, 2024. This virtual event, previously known as TOKYO GAME SHOW VR, marks its fourth year as a digital complement to the physical Tokyo Game Show held at Makuhari Messe.
TGSDW 2024 introduces a unique setting called “Game Islands,” a floating game country in the sky where virtual residents are hosting a festival. The event’s key visual, created by artist Kukka, captures this fantastical theme, mirroring the main visuals for TGS 2024. Accessibility is a key focus for TGSDW 2024. The virtual venue can be accessed not only through VR devices but also via PC and smartphones, making it more inclusive for gaming enthusiasts worldwide. Admission to the digital world is free, allowing for a 17-day run.
Last year’s virtual TGS attracted approximately 310,000 visitors. Building on this success, TGSDW 2024 aims to create an interactive, festive space where game fans can connect remotely. The event will feature exhibitor booths from popular gaming companies, offering various content for attendees to explore as they journey through the virtual game world.
TGSDW 2024 will open its digital doors on September 20, ahead of the physical event, giving early access to the Tokyo Game Show experience. The event will continue for a week after the conclusion of the physical TGS 2024, running until October 6, in response to user feedback.
The official Tokyo Game Show Digital World info channel and the official Tokyo Game Show X /Twitter account will share more information as the event approaches. In addition, TGSDW 2024 promises to deliver an evolving, immersive gaming experience that transcends geographical boundaries.
