Stephan Bole, the president of Nintendo of Europe, has announced his departure from the company after a tenure of six years in the role. Bole’s exit marks the end of a lengthy career with Nintendo, spanning over three decades.
Luciano Pereña, who has been with Nintendo since February 1994 and most recently served as the CFO, will succeed Bole as the new CEO, president, and chairman of the management board at Nintendo of Europe.
Bole’s history with Nintendo dates back to 1993 when he joined as the marketing director for Nintendo’s French division. He assumed the role of Nintendo of Europe president in 2018, replacing Satoru Shibata.
The leadership transition also brings other changes to the executive team. Laurent Fischer, who previously held the position of managing director from 2006 to 2015 and became chief marketing officer in 2018, will now serve as the company’s COO. Additionally, Tom Enoki, who joined the senior management team in 2022, has been appointed as the senior managing director for the corporate planning office.
Pereña expressed gratitude for Bole’s contributions, stating, “On behalf of the entire company, I extend my sincere thanks to Stephan Bole for his outstanding leadership and many years dedicated to Nintendo.”
This leadership change comes as Nintendo has recently consolidated its European entities into a single operation known as ‘Nintendo of Europe SE.’ While all individual offices remain operational, the company states that this restructuring aims to improve business efficiency and accelerate decision-making processes.
