The Busan Indie Connect Festival 2024, Korea’s largest indie game event, concluded with an impressive award showcase of talent and innovation in the indie gaming industry. The festival, which has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 2015, announced its award winners across various categories, highlighting the creativity and diversity of indie game development.
On August 16th, the Special Awards were presented, recognizing outstanding achievements in different areas. The Public Pick award went to “PIA 피아,” while sponsor picks included “I NEED SPACE” (KOCCA), “Synapse” (Superstone), “Dred’s Crossing” (Xsolla), and “VEDA” (Stove Indie).
The main awards ceremony took place on August 18th, with honors given in both Rookie and General Divisions. In the General Division, “Goodbye Seoul” emerged as the grand champion, taking home the Grand Prix as well as Excellence in Art. “No Case Should Remain Unsolved” also performed exceptionally well, winning Excellence in Social Impact and the Jury Prize.
In the Rookie Division, “Shape of Dream” stood out, winning Excellence in Action, Excellence in Art, and the coveted Rising Star award. “With My Past” also made a strong showing, securing Excellence in Audio, Excellence in Narrative, and the Jury Prize.
Other General Division highlights included “KAGE~Shadow of the Ninja Reborn” for Excellence in Action, “GREAT TOY SHOWDOWN” for Excellence in E-Sport, “Nientum – Opus. Zero” for Excellence in Audio, “Tiny Cafe” for Excellence in Casual, “STAFFER REBORN” for Excellence in Narrative, “Exhausted Man” for Excellence in Experimental, and “Master Piece” for Excellence in Game Design.
The Busan Indie Connect Festival 2024 continues to build on its reputation with the award as a crucial platform for indie game developers, offering both physical and online components to showcase new talents and foster connections within the indie gaming community.
