A new entry in the popular Darksiders franchise has been revealed at the recent THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, igniting excitement among fans of the action-adventure series. While details remain scarce, the teaser trailer offers intriguing hints about the upcoming game’s direction.
The brief trailer, as reported by PlayStation.Blog, showcases a fiery ancient chamber featuring three colossal stone heads. These heads, identified as the Charred Council, burst into otherworldly flames and utter a single word: “Horseman.” In addition, the Charred Council plays a crucial role in maintaining universal balance.
The Darksiders series has traditionally focused on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, with each main installment featuring a different horseman as the protagonist. The original Darksiders (2010) starred War, Darksiders II (2012) featured Death, Darksiders III (2018) introduced Fury, and the spin-off title Darksiders Genesis allowed players to control Strife alongside War.
This Darksiders reveal was part of a larger THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, which also featured announcements for several other titles, including an unannounced project from Tarsier Studios, Way of the Hunter: Lintukoto Reserve, the Gothic Remake, Titan Quest 2, Wreckfest 2, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Space For Sale, and The Eternal Life of Goldman.
This new announcement in particular raises questions about the game’s direction. Will it bring all Four Horsemen together for an epic adventure, or will it follow the pattern of previous games by focusing on a single character? THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games have not officially announced any platforms yet.
