In a recent dev panel event, Respawn Entertainment unveiled exciting details for Apex Legends’ upcoming Season 22, dubbed “Shockwave” is set to release on August 6. The new season will introduce a cyberpunk-inspired map, innovative gameplay features, and significant weapon updates that promise to shake up the battle royale experience.
The star of Season 22 is undoubtedly the new map, E-District. This urban playground boasts 17 points of interest, each pulsing with cyberpunk energy. Notable locations include the Street Market, perfect for close-quarters combat, and the towering Neon Square, offering vertical gameplay across rooftops and interiors. .
Respawn is also introducing several features aimed at both newcomers and veterans. The new Revival System allows players to respawn near surviving teammates when their death countdown ends, with enemy takedowns accelerating respawn times for the team. Battle Sense, an optional feature for newer players, displays enemy health bars and damage dealt, though long-range engagements or smoke obscuring vision disable it.
The introduction of Akimbo for the P2020 and Mozambique will thrill weapon enthusiasts, as it allows players to dual-wield these pistols for increased fire rate. LMGs are also getting a significant buff with the addition of a gun shield, absorbing up to 40 damage to make them more competitive against SMGs and assault rifles.

To ease the learning curve for newcomers, Respawn is implementing a Welcome Pass and Welcome Challenge system, unlocking legends and rewards for new players. In response to player feedback, Respawn has reverted the Battle Pass system to its previous model, allowing players to once again purchase the pass using Apex Coins.
Respawn Entertainment plans to launch Apex Legends Season 22 in the coming weeks, bringing a surge of cyberpunk action to the Apex Games.
