Overwatch 2 and Transformers are set to have a collaboration in a crossover that will bring the Autobots and Decepticons to the free-to-play hero shooter on July 9. Blizzard Entertainment has previously teased the collab back in June alongside the launch of Season 11 of Overwatch 2.
The new trailer for the crossover revealed more info.
Bastion will assume the identity of Bumblebee. Illari will receive an Arcee skin, while Reinhardt will take on the role of Optimus Prime. Lastly, Ramattra will dress up as Megatron. Based on Blizzard and Hasbro’s teaser animation and a recently released lore comic, these appear to be the main highlights and the extent of the collaboration.
Four skins are typical for Overwatch crossovers, as seen in their previous collaborations with Cowboy Bebop, One Punch Man, the K-pop group Le Sserafim, and brands like Porsche and Lego. Blizzard has not yet revealed the pricing for Overwatch 2’s Transformers skins or whether players can earn them through gameplay.
Previously, Blizzard stated that Overwatch heroes are cosplaying as characters from external franchises in Overwatch 2 collaborations; players will not directly control Arcee, Bumblebee, Megatron, or Optimus Prime.
Overwatch 2 is available to play for free on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
