In a survey conducted by Game Trainer in May 2024, Minecraft is still taking the top spot for Japanese elementary school children. Previously it was Fortnite but Minecraft managed to snatch that title for themselves in 2022. This makes it 2 years in a row where it’s the most played game by kids.
A total of 327 participants were asked ranging from 1st to 6th graders throughout Japan. Among them, the 3rd graders were the most active as they had 61 respondents. When asked what games they play the most, a total of 29.35% of the children answered Minecraft with Splatoon taking 2nd place with 13.45%. Fortnite still makes it to the top three with a total of 6.42%. Mojang Studios is raking it in with Minecraft shares having increased by 4.75% in 2024.
The game allows players to expand on their creativity which may contribute as to why children love this game. Giving them the freedom to create anything allows them to express themselves and is able to entertain them for hours on end.
