Dynasty Warriors: Origins Announced for the PS5

The musou genre is marching in full force onto the PlayStation 5 (PS5) with Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the latest mainline entry of the Omega Force franchise.

Revealed during the State of Play of May 2024, we got a fancy announcement trailer of Dynasty Warriors: Origins that showcases a mix of cinematics and its fast-paced action combat gameplay with crazy fantastical martial arts.

No official release date has been revealed yet, but the game is slated to launch sometime in 2025.

Despite musou games appearing seemingly every other year, it has actually been a while since we last had a Dynasty Warriors game.

The last main entry of Dynasty Warriors was Dynasty Warriors 9, which was released in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam. Yes, it has been 6 years since.

Sure, we do get an expansion in the form of Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires in 2022, but that was an expansion, not exactly a new game. Dynasty Warriors 9 in itself received a rather mixed reception from fans and critics alike and was considered a step back for the series.

Previously, Omega Force was in partnership with Electronic Arts and developed Wild Hearts, a new IP that wears its Monster Hunter inspiration proudly, decorating the monster-hunting genre with its own construction-filled quirks.
