After years since its announcement, Square Enix has finally shared a new teaser for the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation.
In a new teaser video, the remake of Dragon Quest III has now been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.
While technically untitled at the moment, a remake of Dragon Quest III using an HD-2D art style was first announced during the Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Special Livestream in 2021.
The remake is being developed by AMATA K.K., the developers behind Last Labyrinth and The Tale of Onogoro, as well as Team Asano of the OCTOPATH TRAVELER and Bravely Default series.
Since then, news of the game had gone radio silent, but now a new teaser was shared with a description that reads, “The legend of Erdrick draws near”.
Meanwhile, the short teaser video showcased the series’ iconic “Mark of Erdick” and ended with the phrase “The legacy begins”.
All this suggests that we would likely have a proper look at the game very soon, and potentially even a release date, hopefully during the summer period in the next few weeks.
If you are unaware, Dragon Quest III chronologically took place at the beginning of the first three titles, thus the teaser tagline “The legacy begins” makes a lot of sense.
As mentioned, this remake will be utilizing the HD-2D art style that Square Enix and Team Asano have been using for a number of titles including the OCTOPATH TRAVELER series, and Triangle Strategy.
