Nintendo has acquired 100% of Shiver Entertainment, responsible for Nintendo Switch ports of multiple game titles.
In an announcement published by Nintendo, the company announced that they had entered into an agreement with Embracer Group AB to acquire Shiver Entertainment in its entirety and transform it into a Nintendo subsidiary company that will continue working on Nintendo Switch game ports.
Nintendo also projected that the acquisition will only leave a minor impact on the company’s fiscal year performance.
Shiver Entertainment is a Miami-based company that has experience in porting multiple games to the Nintendo Switch, including Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1.
This marks the first acquisition by Nintendo since buying out Next Level Games in 2021, known for developing multiple Mario series titles such as Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Mario Strikers: Battle League for the Nintendo Switch.
Earlier this year in Febuary 2024, Embracer Group AB had laid off around 1,400 employees and cancelled 29 unannounced games as part of its restructuring effort last year.
