Ubisoft has released their annual report for the financial year of 2023-24, showing a turnaround of profits for the company.
In the same report, Ubisoft announced their plans to maintain profits by reducing operating costs by €200 million Euros going into 2026, with around €150 million Euros in fixed cost base reduction in for this fiscal year.
The report also states that due to organizational simplification and targeted internal restructurings, the total number of employees as of March 2024 stood at 19,011, having laid off 1,700 employees over the past 18 months.
According to CEO Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft‘s IFRS operating revenue for the fiscal year 2023-24 amounted to €313 million, with a 33.5% increase in net bookings, emphasizing the strong financial performance of the company, helped by the longevity of the Rainbow Six: Siege and Assassin’s Creed franchises, having drawn the largest amount of both players and investors.
For the 2024-25 fiscal year, the company has announced that their strategic focus on game development will be going to two core verticals; Open World Adventures and native Games-as-a-Service. They plan to recapture their dominance in the Open World Adventure genre, projecting the future in several IPs under Ubisoft’s ownership such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Ghost Recon and Star Wars.
Additionally, the company plans to launch five titles in 2025, including highly anticipated games Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws. For free-to-play titles, Ubisoft plans to release Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence, and XDefiant a new 6v6 first-person shooter.
