The recent Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series Japan TOKYO 2024 has just set two new Guinness World Records, marking an incredible achievement.
The Guinness World Records achieved are the titles for most entrants in a trading card game tournament, as well as being the largest card game tournament.
As revealed, the Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series Japan TOKYO 2024 tournament has a total of 7,443 participants registered, setting the achievement for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament.
The participant numbers also see the event grabbing the title for the largest trading card game tournament.
This new achievement breaks Konami’s own World Records, where the title was previously held by the 100th Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series in Long Beach, California, USA, which took place from 23rd to 25th March 2012.
Official ceremonies awarding the Guinness World Records certificates to Konami were held at the tournament event, with entrants watching on.
Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series Japan TOKYO 2024 took place from April 28 to 29 of this year at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Centre), and it was held for the first time as a two-day event to commemorate the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series Japan.
The tournament also saw Yutaro Takahashi crowned as its champion, becoming the winner of the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series Japan, as well as the winner of the largest trading game tournament.
“I am happy to be a champion! It was thanks to the practices with my friends whom I met through “Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG”. I will do my best to win the next event as well!”, said Takahashi.
