Atari to bring Night Driver to the smartphones

Having first launched the game 40 years ago, Atari announced that it will be introducing its racing game Night Driver to the Android and iOS platforms.

Given a fresh coat of paint, the controls will also be revamped for the mobile port. Atari does intend to keep the feeling of Night Driver as close as possible to the original while making it accessible to newcomers.

The objective in the game remains the same. Navigate your vehicle along a night road while avoiding incoming traffic and walls. Easy to pick up and difficult to master is the name of the game here, but with enough practice, no track should prove difficult. New vehicles can be unlocked, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, so no run will ever feel the same. If you just want to cruise down the city, you can do that too, if the challenge mode isn’t your cup of tea.

Night Driver purists can also unlock a Classic mode where you are given nothing but your car and the old white lights from the original game serving as your guide.
