Electronic Arts has announced that its racing title EA SPORTS WRC is getting an exciting addition and that is a VR compatibility beta.
Starting on April 30, 2024, the VR feature will be available as a complimentary update for all PC players via Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA App through compatible headsets.
The VR headsets that are compatible include Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, Oculus CV1, and HTC Vive.
EA SPORTS WRC will be the first official FIA World Rally Championship game to offer a VR experience, allowing players to experience a new level of immersion in rally car racing.
“With VR, players will be able to experience rallying directly through the driver’s eyes and immerse themselves fully in the challenging experience that the WRC offers. They will be able to feel the adrenaline as they reach incredible speeds and tackle gravity-defying jumps in the unforgiving asphalt, gravel, and snow stages while soaking in the highly detailed environments of the 18 game locations.”
The VR feature was previously announced to be coming end of April prior via a news post on the EA Sports WRC website, citing it as a new addition to Season 4 of the racing game.
“One of the best ways to experience a rally car is to be in the driver’s seat, truly connected to the car and the forces you exert on it at full speed through a stage.”
“It is a sensation that very few get to experience in the real-world, but one that EA SPORTS™ WRC players will get closer to than ever before with the release of VR on PC.”
“The development team at Codemasters has progressed far enough with the VR implementation that we can show you a little teaser, and also confirm that we are targeting the end of April as a release window. ”
EA SPORTS WRC is now available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
