NetEase Games has announced service termination for their MARVEL-based multiplayer online battle arena, MARVEL Super War.
The announcement was released on their official website, stating that adjustments in game development and operation strategies are the reason behind the service termination.
According to the announcement, the service termination will begin on April 18th, 2024, at 3 pm (UTC+8).
With all platform download portals being closed down, players will no longer be able to download MARVEL Super War and make in-game purchases, new user registrations will also be suspended.
This will then be followed up with the official termination of game operation and closure of the game’s servers on July 18, 2024, at 3 pm (UTC+8).
NetEase Games has also noted that all account data and character information in the game will be cleared after servers are closed, such as character data, heroes, appearances, and items.
To thank the players who have supported MARVEL Super War thus far, the developers will allow all players to use any heroes and skins in all game modes so that the players can have fun with the game until the service termination.
MARVELSuper War
MARVEL Super War is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena mobile game that was developed and published by NetEase Games on December 19th, 2019.
As the title suggests, the heroes featured in MARVEL Super War are from the MARVEL franchise. However, heroes from other superhero franchises such as DC Comics have been featured as well, with notable mentions being Batman and Superman.
Throughout its lifetime, the game was only released regionally in South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, and India. In 2020 however, the game was banned in India.
Even though fans have asked and waited for a global release, it would seem that they would have to be left with disappointment as the game is soon closing down.
Looking at AppMagic statistics, MARVEL Super War has amassed a total revenue of over $10 million USD across its lifespan.
Revenue for the game started strong after release with it nearly reaching $1 million USD. Afterward, two massive spikes occurred from 2019 to 2021, with the 3rd spike being the highest one, surpassing the $1 million USD line.
As of writing, MARVELSuper War has amassed over 26 million downloads.
